Did you know that a quarter of our charitable income comes from gifts in Wills?

With more demand on our services than ever before, it’s vital that we raise the all-important funds to care for our local community.

To make or update a Will, you can use a solicitor or a Will writing service. You may already have a solicitor, but if not, a good starting point is The Law Society’s database.

If you would prefer to use a Will writing service, we’ve partnered with expert Will writers, Octopus Legacy, to offer you an exclusive opportunity to write, or update, a simple Will for free. You can do it online, over the phone or even in-person – whichever way suits you best. If you want to take the stress and cost out of Will writing this is the service for you:

– It’s quick and easy – the average Octopus Legacy Will takes 15-20 minutes.
– It’s safe – Octopus Legacy Wills are legally binding and checked by experts.
– It’s free!
– You will have peace of mind that your affairs are in order.
– There is no obligation to include Sobell House in your Will, but if you can support us we would be so grateful.

If you do decide to leave a gift to Sobell House in your Will, you’ll need to use our full charity name (Sobell House Hospice Charity Ltd) and registered charity number (1118646).

Gifts in Wills help us to care for people like Penny and Greg

“My wife Penny was referred to Sobell House in the late summer of 2016 after a number of treatments in hospital for lung cancer. I will always be grateful to everyone at Sobell House – doctors, nursing and care staff, therapists and all the support staff and volunteers – for providing Penny with comfort and advice. I know she was at peace to be there. After Penny died I was more than happy to update my Will to include a legacy to the charity to help continue the wonderful care that Sobell House provides into the future. I would encourage anyone to consider leaving a gift in their Will to Sobell House. I’ve seen first-hand the difference it makes.”

The impact your gift could have

Your gift will enable us to care for and support people with an incurable illness, through the good days and the bad. We also provide much-needed support to family members and close friends who are facing the loss of a loved one, as well as beareavement care. Here are some examples of how your money could be spent:

£1,000 could enable several families to receive emotional support from a social worker, including children.
£3,836 could fund two weeks of transport for patients and families across Oxfordshire.
£6,000 could fund ten days of care for a patient on our inpatient unit.
