Meet the workshop artists

Yarnsy

Yarnsy is a Didcot-based crochet artist known for her vibrant and often whimsical yarn installations in public spaces across Oxfordshire. She gained local and national attention for her intricately crafted postbox toppers and street-side crochet artworks, which frequently celebrate community figures, seasonal events, and popular culture.

Her work sits within the tradition of “yarn bombing”, transforming everyday urban objects into playful, handcrafted interventions. Yarnsy’s pieces are typically installed on postboxes and other street furniture, where they act as accessible, joyful encounters for passersby.

In 2024, Yarnsy contributed her distinctive style to Sobell House Hospice’s OxTrail, creating a specially crocheted mini-ox named Tony for BBC Oxford. As Sobell House celebrates its 50th anniversary, we’re delighted to partner with Yarnsy once again – this time inviting her to share her skills through a beginner-friendly crochet workshop, offering a hands-on introduction to her craft.
