Sobell House Receives Minibus Donation from Oxfordshire Freemasons to Support Patient Care.
Sobell House Hospice is proud to announce the generous donation to support the purchase of a new minibus from the Oxfordshire Freemasons, a gift that will significantly enhance the hospice’s ability to support patients and their families across Oxfordshire.
Located at the Churchill Hospital in Headington, Sobell House provides specialist palliative care and emotional support to people facing life-limiting illnesses. The new minibus will be used to transport patients, families, and essential medical equipment, helping to ensure compassionate care is delivered efficiently and accessibly throughout the region.
This important donation represents part of the Oxfordshire Freemasons’ ongoing commitment to charitable work and community support across the County – a tradition that spans over three centuries. Nationally, Freemasons across England and Wales, have a long history of contributing millions of pounds annually to local causes, as well as thousands of hours in volunteer service.
The minibus will also benefit the hospice’s volunteer driver programme, a vital service that provides transportation for those unable to travel on their own.
Our transport team share the impact this will have on hundreds of patients each year:
“A new minibus means we will be able to provide a safe, efficient, and comfortable transport service to patients and carers wishing to access the wide variety of services offered by the hospice. It’s also a chance for us to spread the word about who we are and how we can help in the local community we care for.”
Prof. Stephen Tucker, Head of the Oxfordshire Freemasons, says:
“Oxfordshire Freemasons are incredibly proud to support Sobell House with the purchase of a new minibus, which will play a vital role in helping to provide compassionate care to patients and families across the whole of the county and beyond. It is therefore an honour for us to be able to contribute in a meaningful way to the incredible work that this hospice undertakes within our community.”
