Postcard art raises funds for nurses!
07 June 2023
As you may know, our My Lovely Postcards exhibition and auction took place in May as part of Oxfordshire Art Weeks. We are delighted to announce that, thanks to over 400 submissions of original postcard-sized artwork, we have raised over £16,500 for Beth’s Bursary Fund.
Established in 2017 in memory of Beth Foreman, Beth’s Bursary Fund supports nurses to receive further training and education in palliative care. By providing nurses with opportunities to gain the specialist skills they need, we’re able to make a long-lasting impact on the quality of palliative care here at Sobell House Hospice and further afield. To date, Beth’s Bursary Fund has contributed over £70,000 to further training for nurses. Thank you so much to our My Lovely Postcards artists and bidders for being a part of that effort.
This year’s auction took place over ten days and was an exciting watch! We were so pleased that every single piece of artwork received a bid, but the top bid was £1,000 for Dame Judi Dench’s original artwork. We were lucky enough to have other celebrities contribute to the exhibition too – our thanks to Suzie Fletcher, Mel Giedroyc, Mark Gatiss, Paul Chahidi, Siobhán McSweeney and Annie Sloan.
If you missed out on a miniature artwork, please keep your eyes peeled for some exciting giftware featuring some of the fantastic artwork curated by Annie Sloan, who is widely considered one of the world’s leading authorities in paint, colour and style. The collection will be on sale later this year!
